About Us

Fall Timber is a family run independent Timber Merchant based on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales with 35 years experience in supplying timber to businesses and the public in our area.

Quality is at the heart of our business and we strive to ensure that the timber we stock is strong, solid, reliable and available at competitve prices, as well as being from PEFC and FSC approved sources.

Although our 35 years of experience in sourcing and supplying timber of excellent quality helps us to ensure we meet the high quality standards we set ourselves, we are mindful that there is always room to learn and improve  and we have recently expanded our knowledge base with on site  Visual Timber Strength Grading Certification to allow us to better serve our customers.

As well as focussing on quality, Fall Timber aim to supply our timber at competitive prices, to ensure that our customers not only have access to a broad range of quality timber, but that the levels of quality our customers require and deserve are affordable and available to all.

Fall Timber provide a broad range of Treated and Tanalised Timber, Sheet Materials, Carcassing and Joinery Timber, and Fencing and Landscaping Timber for use by members of the public as well as joiners, builders, fencing contractors, agricultural builders, farmers, game keepers and landowners.  All of our timbers are stored under cover to minimize warping or shifting which increases in timbers which are stored outdoors and subject to exposure from the elements.

To complement our range of quality timbers,  Fall Timber also hold a broad range of hardware products in our on site shop, including nuts and bolts, screws, hinges, door fittings, gate fittings, nails and drill bits to name a few.  We also have access to huge range of hardware items through our broad supply network.  We can usually have any hardware, fencing or agrucltural accessories delivered to site within 1 to 2 business days.  We love a challenge and are only to happy to help you source items which may not be considered standard stock.  Just contact us and we will do our utmost to help.

Along with our timber and hardware offerings Fall Timber are also happy to provide cutting, planing and machining services.  With our specialist on site machinery and capable team we are able to produce bespoke lengths and breadths of timber as well as mouldings such as skirting boards, match boards, beading, architrave, log lap and fence capping.

We are also more than happy to provide delivery of timber within a reasonable radius of our base near Bedale, North Yorkshire.  For large orders we are often able to provide delivery direct from import houses and mills which help to keep delivery costs to a minimum and also allow us to deliver on a national basis.  For smaller orders we are very happy to provide local delivery and this can be arranged as part of your order, so please feel free to contact us for a quote.

Fall Timber first began trading in 1977 when it was founded by Martyn and Jean Fall on their family farm near Bedale, North Yorkshire. Fall Timber initially specialised in sheet materials but soon found a strong demand in the local marketplace for a broader range of timber such as fencing and tanalised timbers and so the business grew to fill market need.

Fall Timber has continued to grow steadily over a period of 30 years and has built a strong reputation in the local community for providing timber of excellent quality at competitive prices. The firm supplies a very broad range of FSC and PEFC certified products including sheet materials, joinery timbers, tanalised and untreated timbers, fencing and hardware. Fall Timber also specialises in quality tanalised timber and supplies a great deal of timber to agricultural building businesses in the area.

Fall Timber is a truly family run business which is now under the management of the next generation of the family - husband and wife team Matthew and Helen.

As a younger generation building on an established timber business we hope to bring a fresh and forward thinking approach to the traditional timber industry model.  We hope to continue to grow the business into broader markets by building upon the firm’s reputation for quality timber at competitive prices, as well as the strong relationships that Fall Timber holds with their suppliers and customers.

Exciting developments in 2011 included the launch of Fall Timber’s hardware store within the timber yard and the addition of new lines to our stock as well as a new logo and branding.  As we enter 2012 we plan to continue to grow the business through the launch of our new website in January 2012 as well as a series of marketing campaigns and special offers to roll out our new lines and services to our customers new and old.

We hope to continue to grow our business into the future by building upon core values of customer service, quality, reliablity and innovation.
